Okay, this is definitely off-topic, but it’s a little related, read on.

I purchased the Sanyo VPC – HD100R Video Camcorder last October. I bought this item because it’s small, it’s HD, and it records to a SDHC (or just a regular SD) card. I knew when buying this that I wasn’t getting a Sony-quality lens or basically a great camcorder; that doesn’t mean I was expecting a pile of sh*t either!

I’ve used this little video recorder literally 5 times since I’ve bought it; totaling no more than 2 hours of actual use. Yesterday I was filming/taping/digitally recording (however you say it nowadays) my 7-year-old daughter riding her horse and I tried to zoom in from across the field. The camera made an ugly grinding noise and it absolutely refused to auto-focus at even a fraction of a zoom!

Okay, so I got a bum piece of electronics, no biggie right? So it’ll be gone for a few weeks under warranty repair/replacement – not bad since I pick the thing up every 3 months or so… So I call Sanyo today and guess what? The only provide a 90-day warranty for this! 90 days? You’ve got to be kidding me!?

So, I spent $200 on a paperweight and now have to go out and get a real one (from a better company) – one with a Hard Drive maybe, but I’m starting to worry that 90-days is the norm…

In my opinion, the manufacturers warranty should way outlast the return policy of stores… I mean, Target has a 90 day return policy for (explitive)’s sake! Too bad I didn’t buy it there… lol

The point is: Sanyo Sucks! Don’t buy their sh*tty products!
